    Hello folks, new T/A addict

Hello folks, new to the site. Found it today while mucking about at work (shhh!) Been looking for a UK TA site for ages!

I've got a 2002 T/A, silver (better than black - doesn't show the dirt quite so much) Used all year round for commuting, days out and 2 up touring. I've done 10,000 miles in the last 12 months and only found problems in the snow (wasn't deep enough so scratched the l/h faring!).

Recently had a noise like a bag of spanners coming from the engine but only when I closed the throttle and only when it was actually being ridden. Finally tracked it down - the front sprocket has another locking doofer bolted to it. the inner splines (sounds good) on the doofer had worn away, this meant that when closing/easing the throttle, the sprocket moved towards the outside casing and started wearing that away. Waiting for the parts to sort this properly now. Any ideas why this happened

    Hi, and welcome

Probably due to incorrect wheel alignment.

    Welcome

No new insights to offer to your question, I'm afraid - wheel alignment sounds like a good bet though.

Could be cos the bolts holding the doofer came loose allowing it to wagglearound. Had happened on my first TA and actually wore through the plastic cover (before I got it). Put some thread locking compound on the bolts before you do them up and that should stop it happening again.
