Well folks , after a couple of months surfing this site, enjoying your wit and finding your tips useful and informative. I have finally signed up. So look out for my requests for advice from you folks with more "alping" experience than me.

Here goes the first question - Anyone out there with experience of Alpos boxes and SWMotech mounts on a late model 650? I quite like the look of them from Paul Cave's website , a good bit cheaper than Touratech and a whole wedge cheaper than Metalmule.

Hi Wee Jack, welcome to the site. Not heard of the Alpos boxes before seeing your post, but they look pretty good and the SW Motech mounts also look well thought out. I've got OEM honda plastic panniers at the moment which are OK, but the mounts and locks don't fill me with total confidence when the panniers are heavily laden. So I've been thinking about metal boxes too. Be interested to hear what others think

Welcome Jack, the alpos boxes sure are well worth looking at and the quick release pannier rail system is certainly the best I have ever seen.
