Thought I'd share my experience of replacing the whole exhaust on my XL600V - the original system having neatly rusted away to nothing at the junction between downpipes and silencer (thanks to several winters worth of salt laden muck) so both ends had to be replaced. Genuine Honda parts were going to work out at around £400 so I reckoned there must be a decent alternative out there cheaper, and ended up buying the Mivv silencer (which seems to be the only aftermarket one close enough to the original design) - couldn't find it for less than £200 in the UK but got from www.mgh-bikes.de for £174 including shipping and foreign currency fees. Then went for the stainless downpipes recommended on http://www.ta-deti.de/ta/index.html from ABP Racing (http://www.abp-racing.de/bike/kruemmer.html), costing £138 total. ABP don't take credit cards so you have transfer the money into their bank account before they will send the goods, which took about 2 weeks altogether. Total saving about £90. The downpipes are beautiful but don't have any of the braze-ons for the 2 heat shields which was disappointing but then the lower one had been held on with jubilee clips before anyway and the upper one isn't really necessary with crash bars fitted. The only problem I had fitting them was that the joint between the 2 downpipes is a very tight fit so it was difficult to get them to line up with the ports without a lot of sweat. Anyway here's what it looked like before the fairing etc went back on -![]()
