I've got SW-Motech bars on mine, more than happy with them, however I haven't had to test there protection yet!

They look more substantial in the flesh than in this picture,

I have the Motech one's which aregreat and verysubstantial but more of an engine bar than a crash bar. I think the Givi ones may offer more protection as they go higher up the fairing and fit a bit further back - I think the rear-most fitting uses the centre stand brackets.

Sorry don't do pictures but there are loads in the pictures gallery.

I've got Touratech - absolutlely awesome! Bike has been down on mud/stones/grass/trees/mud/streams (you get the picture!) with no extra damage to the main bike. They are expensive though, and the wait for delivery is supposed to be long, but I got mine within the week.

The Givi ones only protect some of the fairing in very low speed since it only helps to reduce the speed of drop before the fairing touches the ground, it does protect the engine quite well though, even the underside is protected on account of the bars being held onto the centerstand pivot thingy. Even when jumping high curbs the thing that touches first are the bars.

If protecting the fairing is the priority I´ld go for the Touratech.
