Favour wanted; Honda center stand measurements!

Hi, For some reason the rear of my bike is some 30mm lower than Paul - 24lb's bike, with the suspension fully extended
We only noticed this when the bikes were parked side by side in his garage.....

Could someone with a 650 and Honda centre stand fitted take a few measurements?

    With bike on centre stand, on firm level ground, I need;

    * distance from bottom of rear tyre to the ground
    * distance of bottom of the swingarm (back corner) to ground - vertical!
    * distance from top rear corner of swingarm to the bottom of the rear bungee point on the rear rack.

Cheer's all, currently baffled to why this is!

Bloody hell Phil its cold out there...

    * distance from bottom of rear tyre to the ground 50mm
    * distance of bottom of the swingarm (back corner) to ground - vertical! 325mm
    * distance from top rear corner of swingarm to the bottom of the rear bungee point on the rear rack. 675mm

Just a thought - have you both got the same make of centre stand? Mine's a genuine honda one.

cheers, oh and I am still on the lookout for panniers. Might be coming into a bit of unexpected money soon.... them Metal mules look well tasty

    Ok, cheer's Austin,

The bikes were parked next to each other on their sidestands, both bikes were at the top of the rear suspension travel, Pauls is about 30mm higher....
I'll have a measure up on mine and compare to your figures, I have grounded my bike quite heavily on the ctr stand going into a dip when pressing on, a couple of times and ground the Givi crash bars a couple of times.

Funny, I didn't know crash bars were there to make you crash!

These probs have only occured since fitting the spare shock (with preload adjuster) and greasing the linkage.

Due a rear tyre after the NEC on Fri, so I'll pull it all to bits next week

    Honda centrestand:

    * distance from bottom of rear tyre to the ground
    - About 20mm

    * distance of bottom of the swingarm (back corner) to ground - vertical!
    - 303mm

    * distance from top rear corner of swingarm to the bottom of the rear bungee point on the rear rack.
    - 678mm

    The mystery continues!!!?

Bollox, this makes it easy with two different sets of figures!

I can imagine how the type of centre stand and wear on the pivot could vary the first and second measurement, and I suppose tyre size and type would effect the 1st (130/70 Tourance with 3K miles but no noticeable wear)

But the third measurement should be virtually identical as they are in effect how far the suspension will let the swinging arm fall with all weight off. I would say 3mm between mine and recycler's is near enough.

Oh, and I managed to ding the centre stand on a left hander at the weekend, but did have wife on the back and there was a BIG dip in the road that caused the suspension to bottom out. Didn't think I was leaning over very far mind.

The critical measurement, (I suppose the others could have a variation due to slightly uneven surface) from the top of the swingarm to bottom of the rear bungee point, on my bike is 665mm, I have Givi rails mounted, so the true figure is more like 660mm - about 15mm lower than std.

I'll have the shock out after this weekend for a careful measurement against the original.
