2 up ok with panniers, fuel economy pants, comfort awesome..

    Hi everyone

Went to nec yesterday 2 up with the panniers fitted as well. Large 45 litre givi's.
Bike rode a treat, tyre pressures 32 front and back. Bike still accelerated pretty much as normal. Both of us probably weight bout 10 stone. 46 litre top box on as well.
My mate picked the pace up on his cx500 2 up....the result of 70-80-90 work...155 miles round trip and the alps bout empty. Good job the gauge is accurate.
Comfort, my pillion fell asleep on the back both ways..... Think its more to do with how comfortable the ta is than my riding

Show was pants compared to last year, unable to get my new boots, but got a nice ixs invader all season textile jacket for 45 quid.

    Paul

Aye , I would agree with your observations about the bike loaded - no problems with a set of Touratech panniers , 45 litre box and misses Wee Jack on the back, doing a 600 mile round trip to Skye a few weeks ago.

And the fuel consumption went to hell when we pushed it on the return leg to catch our ferry. I guess the panniers turn the aerodynamics into that of yer average house brick. OK if you keep it 60 ish , but be prepared for a shock if you want to push 80-85ish.

I wouldn't normally be going at those sort of speeds on a wee tour like we were on , but we were enjoyong it so much that we got a bit distracted and wandered further than we planned and ended up on the outskirts of Inverness with time running out fast to get back to catch our ferry home.

2 at 10 stone!!! You want to try it with nearly 30stone between you and a load of gear. It don't accelerate then and the front always feels kinda vague.
