700 'alp in MCN [P&H Crawley advert in show guide]

In the freebie show guide supplement with MCN a couple of weeks ago there was an advert from P&H motorcycles for a new NT700A transalp
[with free topbox, scottoiler and heated grips]. It was priced at £5299 i think. I think this is not an official honda bike as yet so maybe P&H are themselves putting the 680cc deauville engine in a transalp chassis. Held back from posting this thread 'cos i was sure other people must have seen it but maybe not as it wasn't a big advert. The honda stand at the nec show just had the 650 'alp.

I assumed they were getting mixed up with the deauville.

I hassled the honda guys at the show. Got passed from one person to the next but the end result was this to my questions.......

Q Is there going to be a new Transalp with the 680 engine?
    A Dont know.

Q Are we going to see an Anniversary edition transalp for its 20th anniversary.?
    A Dont know

Q Is the transalp going to be discontinued when euro 3 takes effect.
A 'I dont think the transalp will meet euro 3 in its present form'

Q Do honda uk actually know anything about the possible replacement or whether the ta will be discontinued?
A Honda uk havent passed on any information, so we are in the dark as much as you.

Q Do you not think it would be silly to not update the ta with all the rival manufactures moving into the adventure, dual purpose market when the likes of suzuki, kawasaki, bmw, aprillia are bringing out superior models to the venerable ta.
A Yes it would be silly to drop out from the middleweight dual purpose adventure segment.

Thats it in a nut shell.

Phil what about you finding a dullville 700 write off and transplanting the engine
