Any ideas how to stop the corrosion on the spokes apart from copious amounts of solvo autosol ?

you won't stop it basically. I think you have to accept that the ta spokes and rims are piss poor quality. I just wipe mine down with a rag coated in wd40. and before you ask they are still coroded.Originally Posted by RickSkye1

Stick gloopy messy gunky stuff but it's brilliant, I larrup the stuff over my bike every winter and it works a treat, does mean for 4 months of the year the bike looks a bit messy though.
F800GS ...broom broom yeah!!!
I have just ordered 2 cans of ACF.
Thanks.
Oh, and for spokes I spray some ACF50 into another container (can lid?) and paint it onto the spokes using a 1/2" paintbrush, saves wasting most of it in overspray and lubricating the brake discs ..EEK

Ive yet to be sold on these latest wonder products. Point being, if you dround the ht leads or other ignition wiring, would you reach for the acf or wd40. I just regularly apply half a can to a hot engine and wipe the spokes and rims, and swinging arm. Looks like new still.Originally Posted by RickSkye1
Bmw do cans of spray clear wax. About 7quid. Bit of a faff, but u could mask the disks and tires off and protect them ALL WINTER with one application.

Had friends with CBR 600's (yuk) a few claimed under warranty for flaky paint and corrosion on the wheels!Originally Posted by 24ftlb
It ain't spokes that are the problem - it's the finish![]()

I found that one thorough coating of ACF50 protected mine all last winter. In my opinion, it provides a more robust coating than WD40. (Although I agree that a regular scoosh and wipe down with WD is quick and easy).Spraying some into a saucer and then 'painting' it onto rims and spokes worked well. Also took calipers off, and carefully painted inside the calipers with pads removed then waited for it to 'dry' before replacing padsOriginally Posted by 24ftlb
If you're that bothered about how the spokes look you can clean them with wire wool and then cover with WD40 or whatever - I did this on the XT, and it looks OK. On one of my TAs the spokes were so bad and pissed me off, I painted them black and they looked much better![]()
Another good move would be to move away from Skye and all than salty sea spray.![]()

Then there'd be space for me to move up the play on them big rugged mountains and spend sunny days under the sea.
Only jokingbut my campers a rust bucket from spending far two much time on the coast.
