    Cat out

I have just done the same thing, I ended up buying a complete Arrow system that also saves loads of weight, put iridium plugs in and done the air box mod where you drill some holes in the top section of it.
I also found that the bike was to noisy with the baffles out and a bit tame with them in, So what i done was got a small grinder and cut three slots down the side of the baffle so in effect it still is not a straight throw pipe, but allows a better flow then put it back in the end can. Sounds good.
    regards

    Hi and welcome.

Alps run rich as stock, the cat can be removed from the stock headers, do a search there is lots of info on this site and some at techtransalp.co.uk

    CAT.

Thanks for the reply's fellars, been having a look at the cat at least the best I can get to it! and it looks a nightmare to start making a pipe to replace it.
I,ve made a centre stand and some footrest brkts. so as to get my long legs into the tank and I thought that was time consuming , but I think making the pipe is out . Looks like a complete system like Tay has done is the answer.
I've also just done the tappets and plugs I could not believe the strip down to get to it all!! I,ve been on classic BM's for the last few years and I could have taken the gearbox out of the BM, done work on it and had it refitted in the time it took to do the plugs and tappets!! BUT I think the transalp is a great bike so its worth the time spent.
Happy new year everybody and safe biking ------ Chris

An alternative to making a link pipe to bypass the cat or buying new headers is to simply cut the catylist off and plate over the remaining hole, quite simple, cheap (or free) and retains the original headers.

I have done this to good effect on a couple of 650's.
