Thread: Low Seat Comfort?

    Low Seat Comfort?

Does anyone have any experience of the long-term (i.e. over several hours riding) comfort of the Honda low seat compared to the standard seat on a 650? Being somewhat vertically challenged I'd probably be better off with a low seat but am worried that the loss of height is achieved through loss of padding and comfort.

    Thanks.

yep, I changed to a low seat fairly quickly and in Septemeber I rode to Lands end and back in under 24 hours on it, although there was a little bum numbness towards the end I didn't find too much of a problem. I can't really compare to the standard seat though because I changed over before I did any big rides on it.

Thanks, Mabel. No offence, but if it's comfortable enough for a woman over that distance it must be good [I speak as a husband whose Mrs gets numb bum after little more than an hour even on a seat renowned for comfort....)

David Silver have them for a good price still so I think I'll take advantage and get one while they're cheap - I need to order some bits anyway.

i have a low seat on my transalp................i find it really comfy. I often do 250/300 on it and i have had no numb bum.........only thing is that i often have to let me legs swing, cos of the shorter peg to seat me knees ache after about 200 miles...........but other than that nothin....no backache........or anything.............................janie

I did several longish jaunts with the original seat before chaning it to hondas own brand lower one.

Since then I've done the iron butt (1000 miles in under 24 hours) and 2 national rallies (22 hours in the saddle on both occasions) and I;ve never had the slighest bit of discomfort. My number one daughter is now travelling several hundred miles with me over the weekends in training for next years rally - we'll be doing the daytime rally as I think 10 hours will be enough for her first time out - and she's never once moaned or groaned about any discomfort - and trust me on this - if she had any discomfort I'd be the first to know about it as I'd get it over the radio every 10 seconds !!!!!
