    Coolant

What type of coolant are you using, I don't know whether to use ethylene glycol silicate based or the later type O.A.T (organic antifreeze technology) does not contain silicate. Im'e not bothered about the antifreeze aspect as the bike (650) never sees frost but wondering about the lubrication/anti corrosion properties. Has anybody had water pump or any other problems using the silicate based stuff?

Whenever I change mine on any bike, I flush the system thoroughly then refill with modern pink/orange long life stuff. Never had an issue.

Thanks for the reply, think I will play safe then and use the pink O.A.T stuff. Im'e guessing you just flush out with a hose and tap water?

Yes, then fill & run for a while then drain then flush again.
I believe it's not best practice to mix different types of antifreeze.

Gawd knows why motorbikes are stuck in the dark ages & still using old tech coolant.
