Hi can anyone advise me of the best place to buy progressive fork springs and the cost? I think the standard springs really limit the rear end potential --------- Chris

You have a choice:
Hagon - http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/Fork_Springs.htm -£55.50 a pair
Hyperpro - http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race....ucts_id=403103 - £97 inc vat (xl650 only)
Ohlins - not sure on models http://intobikes.co.uk/products?vhlM...=0039&x=35&y=8 £85
Technoflex - http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/i...hp?language=es £75 + shipping (these are longer than stock apparently)
WP springs (formerly White Power) - http://www.wpsuspension.com/products/forksprings.php (which I have on mine......think they were £90 including fork oil and shipping - also longer than stock)
If you want it to handle like a Buell, buy a Buell, but these will stop the serious 'wandering' that was on my stock springs. The trick is to get the AG (air gap) right and the right consistency of Fork Oil.
Deti has good info on this ..... http://www.ta-deti.de/ta/forkoil.html
Also get the spokes tightened on the front wheel and decent tyres at the right pressure help the front end. The stock front end on the xl600v is to put it bluntly ..... ****e, although I can see that it does right as an 'all rounder' as was intended, although I also had a Honda Dominator before this and the front end was similar if not the same, and it handled much better as stock.
Good luck!
I fitted Hagon springs on my 650. They're made in Germany and I'm 99% sure they're Wirth springs as sold for much more money and with a much longer wait for delivery by Touratech. (I'm not sure where babybadger got the info about Touratech selling Technoflex springs?).
They are slightly longer than the stock ones but maybe the stock ones had 'settled' a bit. I fitted mine with a Hagon remote-preload rear shock but found the front a bit too tall with the rear preload set to my preferred level so I pulled the forks up through the yolks by 15mm and this made a big improvement to both the steering accuracy and to stability on the motorway - it wandered a bit before. I'd recommend the Hagon springs without reservation (and they're about the cheapest you'll find!) - order their own fork oil at the same time. Their recommended air gap is the same as stock.
Thanks alot lads for the info, its sites like this that are worth their weight in gold. loads of time saved in sharing other peoples experiance ------- thanks again - Chris
Good point they are Wïrth springs, I must have been distracted when posting it up! A senior moment on my behalf.... LOLOriginally Posted by sproggy
