    Hello gentleman,

I have picked up old 600 with good motor 55000 miles on the clock really cheap with intentions to build up myself rally bike for fun. Everything is tired on the bike, so looking for advises of improving or replacing forks and rear shock. Any advice welcome.

Plan for this bike would be to prepare it for next year 2000 km off-road rally abroad, quick link below for idea what kind of roads would be.

    Thank you.

    Val

Pick up a cheap KTM front end, machine the stem down a touch to fit Alp bearings and chuck some new springs in. Sorted

As for the rear shock... Well that depends how much you want to spend...

Considering the money spend on suspension upgrade, buy an XT660Z or other bike. Only if you find the parts at scrapyard. its costs too much the suspension, it's extortion! I'd rather walk then spend so much on suspension.

To change the front end on my Alp cost about £350 all in, that's given me a fully adjustable front fork with 300mm of travel

The rear shock can be upgraded for as little as £50

In my opinion suspension is the best upgrade for any bike

Correct, it's the best investment. You have to be lucky to check for offers.

Slowly don't have a lot time at the moment. Today my birthday. Got new Leo vice exhaust from friend. And most service parts hopefully will find time Friday or Saturday to start sorting it out
