Where to buy parts? Service and other

Hello peeps. I'm new to this whole repair and service thing but after about 16.5 hours from now I should own my very second bike-a '97 TA! Lovely. I know most of the bits it needs doing but not sure where to get the usual filters and oil etc. from. Is Ebay any good and what brand filters and plugs should I be looking at? I will also be looking for a rear wheel (prob rebuild it with new rim now), a battery side panel and maybe a centre stand. Any help appreciated.

    Cheers.

Oh and a clutch cable-I think. The current one is very stiff. Is that likely to be the clutch or the cable after a year stood still?

    Reckon I need a Haynes.

David Silver is a good place for parts and spares. Link is http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/

Genuine Honda parts are a must for most things, and a genuine independent bike shop should be able to assist. Dave Silver is OK, but don't forget he's there to make profit too. As for other outlets such as EBay/mail order, I have learned the hard way that the attractive initial cost savings using these methods sometimes fizzle out the moment you try and fit the part. That said, you can't go much wrong with a side panel and Ebay is useful for those hard to find bits sometimes. You pays your money, you takes your choice....

    PS
Oil - The best quality you can afford, no question. It is the single most important component which determines longevity of the engine. Keep to the schedule ref filter/oil change also.

Clutch cable probably needs a lube between sheath/cable - see Haynes for details.
