    FANTASTIC - Avon Gripsters still available

    I have been getting quotes for new tyres, my fave tyre of choice, without doubt is the Gripster.

    When I phoned the local MOT bloke, I asked for a quote on Gripsters. He phoned me back & said they have been discontinued a while back, superseded by Distanzia's

    I was gutted & phoned Avon straight away, to see if this was correct (if it was, I would have bought some of the remaining stock), I eventually spoke to a helpful guy who said;

    "We discontinued the Gripster some time ago, but reintroduced certain sizes due to high demand"

    When I quizzed him about how long he thought they would stay in production for, he repled;

    "The Gripsters in the sizes quoted are very popular & will stay in our product lineup for the forseeable future, as long as there are Transalps on the road"

    Tyres arrived from Busters today.
    I'm a happy bunny,

    2 rears (130/80-17), 1 front (90/90-21) all delivered for the princely sum of £124.60

    Anyone know why the VAT is listed at 18.56%???

    Phil, why did you get 2 gripsters for the rear? Is it because they do 2 rears to one front on wear rate?

    Roughly yes, maybe 2 1/2 rears to a front, also because it's the same postage for up to three tyres!

    I had one Gripster on the rear with the orig B'stone - worked ok.

    Wore that rear out and fitted new front & rear for Austria/Italy. Still very happy with them & superb value for money IMHO

    Cheers mate , just ordered a front and rear for £81 delivered from Busters! Excellent stuff! Ordered on 6th deliverd on 8th August, excellent service! I had a pair years ago on an XT500 , didn't last to long on the back as I recall, but the grip on pavement/tarmac and cobbles wet/dry was superb. I never get the chance to go offroad unless you count South East London roads!

    I only need one set for now as the bike and myself will end up in Spain permanently soon, so it will get TKC 80's on it then.
