    Foam air filters and jetting

I have a trip planed for the Transalp and would like to have a washable air filter. Not too keen on K & N filters and would prefer a foam filter as I think they offer the best filtration. My TA is a 04 and does suffer from poor carburetion; most noticeable is a slight hesitation around 2500 rpm and a flat spot under hard accel from 5000 rpm. The flat spot is over come with a new standard air filter but returns after approximately 6000 miles.

This is work in progress so I will keep you posted.

The 650's do run rich as stock.

I feel you may not be far off the mark with 128 mains & a foam airfilter.

I'm running a de-catted bike with stock filter & airbox & 125 mains, carburation is perfect, fuelling throughout the revrange is excellent, (needles are unaltered).
Pilot screws turned out an extra 3/4 turn to richen the bottom end.

Max power is 2hp up on stock at just over 49, fuel consumption & throttle response is improved everywhere.

Hope that this helps a little, let me know how you get on.

Nice work Activemoto, interesting to know that the 125 jets will work with a foam air filter.

Where did you get the pipercross?

Keep us informed of the progress.
