    Info Please

    Hi All.
I thought??? I wanted to buy a new Transalp but am a little confused with what I have read over the past couple of days on this forum.
Whats with the restrictor business I keep reading about? Are they fitted as standard and have to be removed if full power is required?

Restrictors are not standard. A kit can be fitted for those on a restricted licence.

Thank god for that. Being an older fart, I am not to up on the finer points of licence restrictions in place.

I best go and buy one.

Good idea ! let us know how you get on - some good bargain to be had just now on Transalps. Don't pay more than £4800 for a brand spanking new one
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

4800 is the best price I have found so far. The top box looks a good investment for a passenger. They seem to drop in price when the dealer knows that you are aware he isn't the only person that sells them.

I thought it a bit strange when I first went to look at a new one. "No centre stand"? I enquired "No" he said. "you have to buy that seperately"
I was relieved when he told me that the front wheel was included in the purchase price.

That pee'd me off as well, as I like to do my own servicing and tyre changing, where a centre stand is essential, after market ones come in at around £100 but can be a pig to fit, if I were in your shoes I'd seal the deal with the condition that a centre stand is fitted, I know that's what I'll be doing on my next bike.

    Cheers mate.
I did that with the top box. I decided that my fibreglassing wasn't as good as my steel fabrication.

It's not essential - I find front and rear paddock stands (which I've had for years and fit most bikes I've owned) to be far more useful for all maintenance tasks from checking the tyres to servicing to suspension-off rebuilds. Dare I say it......centre stands are over-rated. I took the one off my other bike as it was ugly and caused ground clearance problems - I haven't missed it once.

    Re: Info Please

Aye, it's a good point Sproggy, there's nothing the main stand will do that a pair of paddock stands won't do, but as I use the ferries a lot, I feel that it's a bit more secure up on the mail stand, particularly when the securing arrangements can leave a lot to be desired on ferries between Britain and Ireland, also like the idea of been able to easily remove the wheels in the event of a puncture on the M1 and 500 miles from home. But I then again if you have decent AA cover then this won't be an issue .
