Ive got the oxford heated grips. Not the very latest digital ones but the model before with the rotating temp adjuster. 35 quid from Halfords. Best thing ive ever bought for the ta. Easy to fit, easy to wire. In winter gloves I cannot hold the grips if they are set at anything above half.
They claim a maximum temp of 55.c / 131 fahrenheit, and im not going to dispute their claim.
A bargain for the money with a 2 year warranty.
I wired in to the fan circuit by the fuse box for the switched live. Other wires obviously to battery. Just find the power out side of the fuse box and splice or solder your wire in.

thanks 4 that, was thinking of the oxford 1's,
The Honda grips are good , but they are expensive. your dealer is trying to scare you with the power draw story - he's talking total pants. There is plenty of "capacity" in the Alp charging circuit to cope with heated grips of any sort.
Just make sure you pick up a live that is switched by the ignition so that the grips switch of when you switch the bike off, otherwise you will end up with a very flat battery in the morning.
2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!![]()
2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.
I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!
My dealer told me that the only difference between the Honda grips and the Oxford ones, in terms of power draw and quality, is the price![]()
thata what i expected, will i get a diagram in the kit to show which wire to latch onto?
or ne1 got ne pics, please. do i have to connect to a live and then earth it to the frame?
sry ,i'm not up on the electric side of these things, the actual fitting i'm fine with.
There are 2 wires for the oxford grips. 1 a switched live and the other is the negative. pick up the switched live from the output side of the fuse box. i used the fan circuit as its not overly likely the fans going to be on at the same time as the grips.

I fitted a pair of Honda Grips to my TDM 900 B4 (CONNECTED TO HEADLIGHT).
The ex-police transalp I got recently has already had a pair of Honda heated Grips on. However, they do not work.
I suspect there is bad connection some where as all the connections are expose and barely covered by the rubber covers came with them.
I can see there are some green corrosion, what is the best to regarding the nasty corrosions? GT85, WD40 that sort of things ?
I am also looking for a bar end cap as one of them has gone
I've got a set of oxford grips and am reasonably happy with them. The connectors are a bit flimsy but otherwise Ok.
I'd advise you to take the bars off to fit them because the glue sets very quickly, Do a dry run first to make sure everything fits and lines up without fouling the controls. Taking the paint off and smoothing the bars helps because the grips are quite tight.
Mine are a couple of years old so things might be different but I didn't get a bike specific diagram. I broke into the ignition switch live just under the switch but it would have been neater to use the fusebox. I've got a 600 so I'm not au fait with the (presumably) 650 that you have but I'm sure there'll be something similar to use.
Have a look at this, I'm not a fan of scotchblocks but wouldn't stop anyone using one.

And these, similar to BMW style heaters, they fit inside the bars and mean you don't have the wires hanging around your controls and you don't have to replace your grips.
