    Front caliper seals

Im after some clarity please on what shouldve been an easy job to do.
Ive just fitted some 91 forks to my 88 alp and finally found a front caliper to match the forks and mounting bracket. It was in a poor condition so stripped it down and replaced all internal parts, ordered from david silvers.

Ive now ordered the piston and dust seals twice and twice had the row with david silvers that they are wrong, they say theyre the only ones honda do and thats that. However i know from previous caliper rebuilds seals fit in their bores snuggly and not like a cock in a bowler hat, the seals fall out if you put the piston anywhere near them!!

The code number on the seals they keep sending me is 06431-MA3-405 so if anyone has had this same issue and knows the correct number or a suitable alternative then id be very grateful, because the above seals are 100% WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Many thanks.

That part number is for the transalp for 1996 onwards (twin front brake models)

BUT, seem's to ring a bell that didn't some of the earlier 600's have Brembo(?) calipers fitted?

    Re: Front caliper seals

    Ta for the input boys.

As you say wheeliebin, now looking at the thread you gave me which is very handy thankyou, those planks have been giving me seals and pads from the VR which is 94,95 in year!!!!
That is what the code 06431-MA3-405 refers too.

However the 91 year or VM model which is what my caliper is from has completely different seals eg dust seals are 45109166006 and piston seals are 45209166006 - not much different then!!
Shall let them know of their imcompetance tomorrow me thinks.

Activmoto - i stripped the caliper off a busted up 91 alp myself from the local breakers so i know its a honda part and that its what i need. I checked it out on a microfiche and it was the same caliper used on a dommie and the AT, it has the 2 pad retaining pins whereas they were sending me parts for the 1 pad retaining pin style caliper. The pistons measure 30.20mm in diameter. Its a nissin 2 pot and not a brembo.

    Re: Front caliper seals

Just an update to say thankyou bigtime to wheeliebin, i supplied those numbers for the seals i got from your supplied link and low and behold they fit so snuggly into their bores just like correct seals should!!! Funny that eh. Fair play to davis silvers too as i orderd them on monday afternoon and they turned up tuesday morning.

Pistons are back in now so having a front brake again will be a novelty again as of this evening.
    Many thanks again boys.
