Knocking from engine on new bike

Had my new 650 TA since april and have put a good 6000 miles on it in that time. However rather worryingly a knocking noise from the engine has now started. There is plenty of oil and water and has had both services.
It is now back at the dealers who cant look at it till Thursday but seems a strange thing to happen on a new bike. Any ideas?

Ah well, its not all bad, they have given me a Vara for the week.

Yes im worried about my lovely Alp!
Dealers are short of technicians. One has looked at it and said valve clearences etc are all ok but noise still there. It is now booked in for another 4 hours this week for further investigation.

Still on the Vara for now. Fun but bloody heavy!

Any news on the bike yet?

Only heard of one instance of knocking noise on a newish Alp, a guy that I met at Squires, had one that developed a noise, it went into the dealers, Honda took it away never to be seen again. He was supplied with a brand new Alp as a replacement.

Any symptoms of the noise, hot/cold/ all the time etc.

I'd say If the dealer wants to start pulling the engine to bits demand a new bike or at least new engine.

    Good luck, Phil

Hi Phil, sounds as if they are going to do exactly that! Pull the engine to bits. They have had approval from Honda to carry on working on it.

Not happy. I was considering seeing if i can reject the bike as you say.

Symptoms of noise, doesnt matter whether hot or cold, all the time, no difference to performance, started literally overnight, sounds like a ticking noise in time with the revs.

Raven...your time will come mate, you end up spending more money as you get older! Thats what it is!

Annoying thing is my current independant dealer will let me have a vespa moped for the duration of the day( not allowed it overnight for insurance purposes, fair enuff) but the official Honda dealer cant give any courtesy bikes to people under 25 as per their policy They seem more than happy to sell a bike to an under 25, so why not supply one of theirs for the duration of 1 day?

Oh well, makes me feel young

Ticking or knocking? To me they both signify complete different noises!

They describe it as a ticking and i'd be inclined to agree.
    Any ideas?
