Don't think there would be any problems on a newish 650 mate.![]()
But why use such expensive oil?
Granted, the bike won't be any worse for using it, but it ain't a high revving unit, so there's no real need for fully synthetic.
A good quality mineral oil is all all these bikes need, along with a new filter every change as well.
Just my ramblings . . .

synthetic every time here if i can, with the extended life it works out cheaper and is way better for engine preservation regardless of the engine type or how its used.
Yeah it's fine, although I don't think it's necessary. I use a semi synthetic and the scheduled changes.
Oh I forgot; make sure you use a bike specific oil.
I use mineral oil, occasionally semi-synth if someone gives me some for nowt. Cheap oil, changed more often, seems to allow long engine life, and gives me something to put in the scottoiler when it comes out! That's probablt why the back end of my bike has a black oily film all over it![]()
I used halfords own brand fully synthetic motorcycle oil in my alp for about 10k. Bikes just been sold, but had no probs whatsoever. Just make sure its not car type fully synthetic as that has friction modifiers in I believe. It that wet clutches hate and start slipping.

Yep, spot on. used a car fully synthetic once on a GPz750 and the wet clutch simply would not grip, went back to standard mineral and no probs, wouldn't use it on the 'Alp for the same reason, cars have dry clutches, so this is not a problem. Changing the oil and filter regularly (4,000 miles) with regular oil is fine for an engine in a low state of tune like the Transalp.
As I understand it the fully synthetic oils are a thiner oil which is better suited to a higher reving engine such as race type bikes and not the transalp. We use the semi-synthetic with gearbox additives.
(Pigugly before you start having a fit - it was Mr M, he made me type it)
