Can't find in the Haynes manual, any mention or image of the bleed nipple on the front brake master cylinder. Anybody tell me why? what's it for (yeah bleedin' the brakes, ta!) or how to use it?

There's certainly no bleed valve on the master cylinder of a 650TA. And I've never noticed one on the 600s I've ridden. What bike have you got?

Moon,
There is no bleed screw on a master cylinder - the master cylinder is the part at the hand / foot lever.
The bleed screw is on the brake caliper.

I can see I'm going to have to post a photo of this,
My tralp has a bleed screw/ nipple / thing On the master cylinder. ie on the black square fluid reservoir on the handlebar. It's low down on the reservoir, looks like it's to aid bleeding the pump (operated by the brake lever).
I'm just wondering if this should be bled before or after the caliper, or not at all?

I must be misunderstanding something here ??? there is no bleed screw (as far as I'm aware) anywhere near the master cylinder.
Do you mean the "banjo" coupling ?, which is the main connection for the brake hose to the master cylinder. Don't touch that unless you are changing the hose.

You can get a banjo bolt with a built in bleed nipple. Some people tend use these to replace banjo bolts mid system (splitter tube) on other bikes. I've even seen them being used on the master cylinder..though gawd knows why as it's an open ened system when the brake lever is released.

Oh ye of little faith! I do know what a bleed screw looks like (part of my job is spanner twirling) what I don't know how to do is use it properly (hydraulic braking systems are fairly rare on boats...)
so, for the unbelievers, look & learn.

Now that is the first time I've seen a bleed nipple that high up as standard!!!!
Only thing I can think of is that there must be a 90 degree bend in there that might trap air.
As far as first/second or bleeding it last...I would do it first and last.
Do that one first, then do the calliper nipples alternate a few times after a few bleeds...then go back up to that one in case any air has bubbled up from below.
