Smile SW Motech Centre Stand Spring

Purchased an SW Motech centre stand from Wemoto. Next day delivery but then faced with extending the double spring to hook over the pivot on the stand. Bloody difficult and did not submit to pliers and a bit of wire as suggested by Wemoto. Devised a doddle of a solution which I am pleased to share. The hardest part will be to work out how to post a pic on this forum. Essentially it involves a lever about 2 ft long, a short length of strong cord and an exhaust clamp. A pic will be better than a description. Tried uploading the pic but the file is to large, if any kind soul can advise how to reduce from 430kb to 97kb I will give it another try.

Get an account with Photobucket - it's free, easy to use and there's no restriction on file size. Upload your photo there and then link to it in your posting here using the button.

    Hi Kenn
I used a similar method, but instead of the lever bar I used a ratchet strap one end fixed to the cord and the other hooked under the garage door (solid Wood door) use a good quality strap though

Re: SW Motech Centre Stand Spring

Hi Lewisj0, Before using the lever method I had the cord tied to the tow hitch on the car.
In the same vein once fitted the centre stand can be easily operated as follows: put the bike on the sidestand and tip over to bring the back wheel of the ground. In this position the centre stand can be easily swung into position and the bike dropped of the side stand onto the centre. Dead easy.
