    Got the horn

Nippy Normans air horn, what a difference from the weedy Honda tooter.

Should let the more dilitary road users know I'm there.

    Re: Got the horn

Don't rely on the loudness of your horn to get attention.

The horn is great for when you see them sticking their nose out on a blind junction or pulling out of a house on a country road but in most other cases road position will help just as much.

Also... Doesn't matter how loud it is, use it too late and it won't make any difference

Otherwise... a neighbour has one - they're nuts! They sound just like a truck!

OK, there will always be some road users who'll say, 'did'nt see or hear you'.

It's all about increasing the odds in our favour, lights on, high vis jacket and a horn can be heard and focuses the attention of other road users can only increase the odds for Bikers, especially in the winter.

IMHO Honda horns are crap. I'd rather pay £13 for a horn that does the business.

The Honda item is so poor I wasn't sure if it was even working when I had to use it t'other day. 139dB should wake up the dozy ones ... or give em a Hearty Tack... either way, job done.

Have you any pictures of that thing installed, got one at the weekend but haven't had a chance to install it yet. Looks a bit cramped in there where the original horn is and the air horn doesn't look like it will fit very comfortably also where did you locate the relay ?.

    Re: Got the horn

    Dear Rainman,

The airhorn from Nippy Normans was about twice as thick as the Honda original, just removed one and replaced with other.

The two wires which connect to the original horn also just clip onto the air horn. Hardest part of the job taking the bash plate off.

    Re: Got the horn

Thanks cookingfat, but doesn't the higher draw of the airhorn mean that you would need to install the supplied relay to avoid frying the horn button contacts over time ?

    Re: Got the horn

I'm hoping that it will be just be a case of "plug and Play" like you have done, if that's the case then it's going in tonight. I have no idea of the difference between the draw on the standard horn and the air horn, but my biggest worry was that it wouldn't fit where the standard horn goes, but you have shown that there is no problem there. If you do need to fit a relay it's a piece of Pi**, I can send you some photos of the job if I need to go down this road.
