Hopefully I have made a good bargain. But everything is relative. We don't complain too much in Norway (or do we
) but with regards to import taxes we are in the position to complain.
The old mint -95 TA will end up at approx € 5.000 when import taxes and VAT are paid. That should be approx £ 3.500,- I don't even want to think about what that amount of money could have given me in UK![]()
This was just to remind you that you British (and all other countries except for Denmark and Norway) are really the lucky so and so!!![]()

Hmm... I feel a lot better about being here now you've said that. That's a lot. If Norway made bikes (or cars) I could understand it, because it would be a good means to ensure imports (trade competition) are minimised. Otherwise, and added to what I hear about your high income tax and exorbitant beer prices, we have no reason to moan here. No wonder Morten, Mags and Pal came to live here in the early 1980s...

Nice one - I had one (1994) the same colour. It was a great bike!

I hope so too - I don't want you knocking on my door with a baseball bat in hand!
Seriously, I had my 1994 bike for five years (after a 1989 VK that I had for three years before that) and the only problems I had were the speedo drive (a few times), the CDI (supposedly better mounted on the VR) which was cured by re-soldering the circuit board - not difficult; the rear wheel needed new spokes and was rebuilt; the sidestand foot wore off (as it has on my RD07), and a chain snapped and took out the tool box. Other than that, all was fine, except I think I needed to deal with the bearings in the swing arm and probably rebuild the suspension. To put that into perspective, when I bought the bike it had 24,000 miles on the clock, and when I sold it, it was up to 78,000 miles. These are tough bikes!

Thank you for sharing your TA history. I will keep it in the back of my head.
However, with two bikes in my garage I don't believe that I will reach 24k miles on the Transalp- everSo,I am looking forward to a trouble free TA life

Hi,
My new TA is finally in Norway. During the weekend I drove from Hamburg to the north of Denmark and took the ferry to Norway. About 650 nice kilometers.
The TA was a pleasant surprise. I had a 650 TA earlier, but I have to admit that this 95 model felt better to drive. Roadfeeling, speed, torque and handling was better and nicer. At a certain part of the trip I was convinced that it was even better than my AT. But, of course, then understood I had to stop for a rest since my brain was not working well.
However, I probably have to sell one of my bikes after the season, but I am not so sure anymore that it will be the TA![]()
