Smile Passed Test and rode my TA for first time

Passed on Wednesday using a CBF500, one minor for hesitation - a little subjective I think, but I passed. the weather was very forgiving, dry and sunny, not even too cold.

Got home got my TA insured with Bennetts - how long have you held a full licence? - 3 hours was the answer but the premium was pretty good.

Swapped bikes over, leaving my 125 Virago behind - thanks little 125 but I don't think I suit the cruiser shape - too tall. Then took the TA out for 5 miles or so before going home. Back to back sets of 1/2 day lessons and a test are quiet strenuos when you've not used to that long in the saddle.

Couldn't get out on Saturday, so I foreited by usual Sunday morning 3 hour pedal bike ride and hit the road for 11 ish and did approx 40 miles, bit of everything, lanes, hills, dual carriage and even 5 miles or so on the M60. It rained a little and was very windy, but I didn't make any big mistakes and felt quiet confortable.

Not sure about the Arrow exhaust, it pops and bangs when dropping down the gears and using the engine to brake, also unsure on the screen, but having not used a screen before I'm not sure how much load its supposed to deflect.
Heated grips (Honda's) worked very well even though it was approx 10deg, had them on the lowest setting and hands were fine.

Bike was dirty when I got back so had to wash it (sure that need will disappear in time).

Now I just need some miles under my belt.

Well done and welcome to the fold. I'm sure that I don't need to say this, but don't go mad - just take things easy and enjoy your bike.

Moving up can be a bit daunting, but soon you'll be wondering what you were worried about.

    Ride safe.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Campagman congratulations on passing your test and welcome to the forum.

Like everyone else said, take it easy and you'll have the time of your life.

As for screens. They're all different for all people. If you're quite tall, a taller screen will probably help (I assume you can get a taller screen for a TA).

Hi Campagman, congratulations on your test. The transalp is a lovely bike I had a touring screen on mine when I bought it but found the increase noise unbearable to the point I considered selling the bike. I found the standard screen keeps the turbulance to a level that I can live with.

Congrats Campagman and welcome to the best bike site in the known universe - Lord Vader does occasionally wander off to far away galaxies but he has the force with him - for us mere mortals this is the best it gets

Congrats Campagman, One advantage of the TA is it is a bike for all. Unlike the sports bikes you have more chance of keeping your licence, just take it easy and enjoy the moment.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
