    Re: fuel tank

Sorry to hear your bad news Kevva. probably not much help but my AT was written off in November and the tank was damaged. New tank from Mr Honda - £582.92 including VAT. That's excluding paint, decals, protective foam panels...etc etc. I therefore decided to repair and live with it (though the damage was only minor). If you buy a new one try Dave Silvers, they can sometimes knock a percentage off - if you are willing to wait for it. Failing that, maybe a decent one will turn up on ebay?

    here you go mate http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/

5 months! jeez. I assume it's beyond repair? Maybe there is a local engineering company who can blow or pull it out then a friendly spray shop to fill and spray?.....still a bumma though!

Put your VIN number in the box on the right on this page. Make sure you click on the UK flag for English.

This will then pull up your model - search the diagrams for your fuel tank and it will show you the current price for an original Honda tank in Euros.

Then all you need to do is convert that into pounds and that's roughly the price you will pay in this country.

    Very useful for costing parts

    Re: fuel tank

Tanks always seem to be coming up on ebay. I don't know so much about the transalp but would something like this not be any good:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-TRANSALP...QQcmdZViewItem

I'd guess if you kept an eye open for a little while you might get hold of one that's in good condition for much less than the cost of a brand new one. Even if it was in the wrong colour, I'd guess the cost of professionally respraying an ebay one would still be less than the cost of a brand new one.

No worries. As I say, I don't know a lot about Transalps, but I think they stopped making the 600's a while ago so with that being a 2005 it's probably a 650 tank (though not 100% sure about that so best to check with him - you might also want to check that they're not year specific as well - some of the guys with transalps off this site will probably be able to help you with that or I think the haynes manual might tell you).

There were a few other tanks on ebay as well, some of them cheaper than that one (but look like they're off older bikes). If the tanks aren't model/year specific you might want to have a look at those as well, particularly if you're going to need to get it resprayed anyway.
