Tail light not working but brake lights are?

Hi,

Not the sexiest question in world but...

I've looked around here and on the net but cant find the answer to this.

I've read about the brake light not working (switch etc) but...

Front lights work fine. Brake lights work fine. Tail light doesnt come on.
There is only 1 bulb so i assume its not that.

Nah. I tried last night but it was really hard to get a purchase on the twisty bit.
Tried for a while but it was late and thought that if its the one bulb sure why am i bothering?

The holder twists to the left.
The bulb has two filiments so one could blow.

The bulb has two filiments - deffo the brake light one is feecked !!

new bulb 50p - push the boat out - buy 2 - keep a spare - learn how to change the bulb with a blind fold on so you can do the same on a cold dark wet night by the side of the road.

If you want to carry a spare rear bulb, an old 35mm film canister with a bit of kitchen roll inside makes an ideal vibration proof container for it.

On the non working tail light front, try a second bulb (just in case you've been unlucky with the replacement) then look at the back of the bulb holder as I've seen the soldered joint break.

i'll check the conections at the back. They looked healthy.
If its not that what could it be?
