    Rear Brake !

Used the rear brake this morning, it felt "a bit funny". It felt a bit like there was ABS working - but I don't have ABS, so it wasn't that. Checked a few things and found the friction material on one of the pads has disappeared!! it's now metal on metal The other pad's fine - about 3 mm left.
I've never heard of this before. Good job it wasn't next week, as I'm off on a trip to Scotland.

I think it is normal for one of the pads to wear out quicker than the other, and normally it's the pad that's on the caliper piston side that goes first.

It hasn't worn out - it was there last week - at about 3 mm, same as the other side. I serviced the bike and checked it.

I have heard tell of a certain make of Brake pad (EBC) shedding their friction material from time to time...never happened to me, though I did avoid using EBC pads on my big trip just in case.
