    Hello,

My bike is suffering from a flat spot between 5 & 6000 rpm when acsellerating and on engine breaking the bike backfires a little, its just had a full service and i have been using ron 97 fuel most of the time. Forgot to add, the chokes and cables have been removed, greased and are working....

    can anyone help??

    Churs

What mileage is the bike? Is continous or just comes and go? Could be quite a few things, from water in the carbs to a loose carburettor funnel, need more datas...

Maybe silly to say this, but did you replace the airfilter at that service. I changed the filter after a year and it helps quite a bit on response. Why you wanna go above 5000 rpm ? 3000 - 5500 works fine for my 600 .. how fast you go then ...

Alllo, Good suggestion, the filter looked ok, I will replace it and see how the bike runs then. Thanks

Alllo, the bikes done 35k miles, its not continuous, feels like a fuel blockage or maybe flooding.....

I might have been a little over the speed limit..... 85/90mph, on the motorway of course...

Clogged air filter was my first thought. Could also be a little water in the carbs (a droplet is usually enough to cause troubles), a clogged fuel filter (it takes really minutes on an empty tank)... if it goes away by itself or after an air filter change there's nothing to worry about.

    Re: Transalp xl600v frat spot.

    Hello All!!

I tried the easy option first, (Redex Petrol) and its worked!!

The bike struggled for the first 10 mins whilst the redex went thought the system, then I took the bike for a short run and the flat spot has gone!!

    Trust Red!!

    Churs for the advice!!

    Pete.

The dreaded redex.. good stuff but can do some mischeif as it burns real hot.. watch your oil consumption as it may have freed up the piston rings a litte hopefully ok.. I used it on an old 850cc mini years ago kill or cure.. even shot some direct into the bores the smoke was horrendous.. worked though..
