Depends on what tyre you have on your bike, how you ride and where you ride (there are more variables, but those are the main ones).
Keeping the tyres at the correct pressures and riding "normally" (if there is such a thing), you may well get up to 6-7k miles from a rear and possibly double from a front.
A good indication that you'll need to change the rear is when the bike reacts to going over white lines (it tends to step from one side of the line to the other).
Just my ramblings.

Hi,
I'm not sure what the Trail-wings fitted to the 700 are like, but the original Trail-wings fitted on my TA650 from new, the rear lasted 3500 miles!
I'm now using Avon Distanzias which I want to wear out so I can replace them with something with a littel off road grip, but I'm up to 5000 miles on these and I guess they have another 3000+ miles left in them. I do a lot of riding in heavy traffic, stop start which increases tyre wear.
F800GS ...broom broom yeah!!!
The current tyers are bridgestone
I posted the thread because I noticed that there's about one third left and the bikes only got 1600miles on the clock !!!!
Only 1600 miles and a two thirds worn

What pressure is the tyre set at? If too high, wear can be accelaerated, but not as fast as your seems to be wearing away!
Get your dealer to investigate - that can't be right - 2/3rds worn in 1600 miles![]()
I've done over 1000 miles and the front looks brand new, the rear has only a little wear (as you'd expect) - runs quite warm at 29psi, and now that its finally a bit warmer
when it wears i fancy changing though as in the wet I've had a few moments with the rear at low sensible speeds
any thoughts?
I've fished around a bit and it seems that the 40 psi that the dealer put in the rear tyer is to high, lets see how it wears now I've dropped it to 29 psi
Get the nerd to put a new tyre on, at the right pressure, so you get what you paid for, not some monkeys mistake with an airline.
Soap box away - give them hell & demand recompense in the form of a new tyre - its the least they can do if they want to keep your custom plus anyone else's custom that you happen to bump into outside their shop and tell your tale too.![]()
if you look at the side of your tyres the tyre manufacture tells you the best pressure for best performance. I've used this info for years and Shazzy and my Torances are .doing 7>8 thou on rear tyres.

cheers for the comments, I probably share some of the blame for the excesive tyre wear for not checking my tyer pressures sooner, I guess I was too interested in oiling the chain and enjoying riding the bike, perhaps the tyre pressure explains why I got round a corner on the grass verge last friday or maybe if UU put "mud on the road" signs I might of stayed on the tarmac, either way I forgot to tell the wife about the "off road experience"
