    i am loosing my minde!

i have xl 650 v1 for two years and i cannot escape the feeling that my bike is leaning little to the right!maybe is all in my head(probable),but when i ride straight, and look at the instruments,i see that the handlebar is not perfectly straight, but little bit to the right.is it possible,or am i nut?is it some optical dellusion?the bike is working and riding nicley, but i can't stop look the handlebar!i looked the new 700 alp,and i found alsow some missaligment between tank tap, centar off the handlebar and centar of the instrument panel!is it normal, and i am just a nut case?

Dont know if its normal but my @ is the very same and like you it rides perfectly. Maybe its a little twist in the fork clamps and we're simply used to riding the bikes like that??

had the same problem on my @ after i had a spill and everything seemed ok,no bent bars or anything twisted ? but the bars were pointing to the left ..
even after undoing and re aligning everything up again

now not sure about the old or new TA but the @ has rubber mounted handlebars and if you have dropped the bike the sleeve inside the rubber mount can get a little bent causing the bars to drop to the left or right
as it didn't affect the handling i just learned to live with it...

If you've lost weight recently check that you have both legs
as sitting cock eyed will also cause this

my son's 125 City Fly had this problem and as Nomad said the misalignment was caused by the rubber bushes holding the bars to the top yoke being bent. Not sure if you can do anythin other than replace them or live with it.

May be forks slightly mis-aligned, or as said rubber mounts.

If it rides OK I would'nt worry.

Check the handlebar clamps are the correct way round and the bolts are tightened in the right sequence. Follow the manual to the letter. Even the slightest misalignment will cause them to be cock-eyed.

Re: i am loosing my minde!

There is a lot of scope for both misalignment and putting it right.
Make sure the rear wheel is properly aligned with the front by checking using either a long straight edge or string stretched taut either side of the back wheel and past the front wheel. With the string parallel with the sides of the front tyre, it should be the same distance from each side. If not, play with the swingarm adjusters to get it right.
If the bars are twisted in the clamps, undo one side and twist back. You may need to 'break' the grip of the clamp on the bars. Once straight with the top triple clamp, retighten.
If the fork legs are twisted compared with the wheel spindle, slacken the spindle clamp on the bottom right fork leg, then pump the front end while holding the front brake to re-align the whole.
As a last resort, slacken the fork brace under the mudguard and one of the lower triple clamp bolts and twist the front end the way you want it before retightening.
If none of this works and the frame is straight, you are most likely sitting to one side on the bike and need to visit an expert in postural alignment...
