Hello!
I have a 1988 xl600v transalp, and i have a problem with carburetors.
It feels like the engine running with Gas-air-mixture too poor, or to rich. Because when i use choke, it runs normaly. How can i cause this problem?
Thanks!

Your carburettors surely need an overhaul, particulary if the bike's over 50.000 miles/80.000 km. Cut-off valves and diaphrams are the usual suspects and they probably need replacement.
While you are at it also check the floats level and the needle jets. The first probably need adjustment (mine were quite off the scale at 40.000 miles) while the second are probably worn thin.
While you are at it also check the carburettor manifolds (the tie downs tennd to get loose) and the air scoop for cracks.
The problem was in that two plastic pistons, because there was small dirt around, and they dont move free. I clean all, and use a little bit motor oil to lubricate pistons. Now it works fine!
