    potential convertee

Currently looking at getting a new Transalp to replace my Triumph Daytona (weekend bike) and Honda Hornet (hack for work) as it is getting rather expensive trying to run the pair of them!

So far been out for a test ride and loved it... Although it hasnt got as much top end as the daytona it was sooo much more fun through the twisties... Next stage is to sell the pair of them and sign on the dotted line...

Already looking a few cosmetic mods... Centre stand and some luggage to start with... nd have been recommended SW Motech and their kit looks good but does is there anywhere else to get items for the 700 as it doesnt appear on many sites I've seen...

    Nick

    Hi Nick

There's a few bods on the site have the new Transalp and they'll be along in a minute or so.

Since the bike is fairly new, it might be worth contacting manufacturers that do stuff for the older XL650V model and ask them when they will have stuff for the new model.

As for centre stands, there seems to be a general concencus of opinion, at least for the older models, that the original Honda stand is best.

Oh, and welcome to the site.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I love mine, and as you say its great through the twisities, also went out with an aprilia RSV1000 for my ROSPA assement and he was impressed with the performance (in the real world).

Thing is you aren't going to get any negative comments on a board - we are all blinkered by our choices!

I have a GIVI top box, they do frames for the 700 for panniers, as do SW Motech

I have the Honda centre stand which is fine.

Fuel economy is increasing mile by mile, I cannot get less than 55 mpg no matter how riding now.

    Re: potential convertee

I too traded in my Hornet for a Transalp 700 and to date I have had no regrets at all.

As far as accessories are concerned, in addition to SW Motech, I have found the following Companies are starting to introduce items into their ranges:

Givi - Screen, crash bars and racks.
RoMaTech - replacement parts e.g. chain guard
Touratech - replacement parts and exhaust systems.

I have stuck to Honda parts - centre stand, heated grips etc as experience has shown in the past that they fit/work and of course if they are fitted by the Dealer at the time of delivery you have a 2 year warranty.

i have a 600T/A that has an SW motech centre stand, and its well made BUT its a pig to get the bike on it. seems to lift the wheels a good way off the ground and as the bike is tall but i am not too tall it is a struggle but it can be done. if you buy a new bike i would think it best to get the Honda one fitted.

    Cheers for the post guys....

Have decided to go for it and put a deposit down yesterday....

It is an ex demonstrator on a 57 plate ( the confusion with the insurance company was worth being put on hold for 20 minutes whilst they tried to work out why it wasnt an 08 plate ) and as such comes in yellow which wasnt my first choice but got a good deal on it so very happy.

Now all I need is to get to hold of it (Monday) and ride it and ride it and ride it !!!

Any suggestions as to where the first long ride should be ? Live in North Surrey and fancy a long day out.....
