Back in one piece - Brakes and all!

Well, I've finally managed to persuade the HEL brake lines onto my bike (a long stort that I might relate with photos sometime) and it's now back in one piece. Which is more than can be said about it's owner!

Anyway, as you can see - a fairly standard Silver Transalp with, if you look closely, new front brake lines. And new back one, but that's not so obvious.

New front tyre - Michelin Annakee

New seat - thanks to Sproggy (and Activmto apparently)

Picture taken just after shake down ride where nothing fell off, though I think that there's a smidge of air still in the front brake system somewhere. I'll have to see if I can sneak up on it and bleed it out.

One thing I did do whilst bleeding the brakes was to put the bars onto full left lock. In this position the reservoir is at its highest point and it seemed to make the job easier - but I could be just dreaming. Also, I made sure that the brake lever was on "full out" adjustment. Other wise the brake lever hits the bar before the master cylinder piston has achieved a full stroke.

And yes, it's great to be back.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

braided hoses make a nice improvement to the power of the brakes at the lever as the standard hoses expand under heavy braking..a worthwhile mod

Yep, the bikes a 2004 model so the lines would be getting past it - and the brakes needed looking at as they were sticking a bit. Nothing that a good fettle didn't sort out.
