    the 2nd Spring?????

Hi been fitting new bits to the bike, well its Half term and the kids were bored. Fitted the Large Spring but were does the 2nd spring go? Can't see on the instructions and reading on the forum it seams to be a common question. Do you need the small spring?

    Please advise thankyou A3

The smaller of the two springs fits inside the larger. Hang on, I'll just go and take a photo.........

    Here ya go -

Both spring ends fit over the same lugs on both the frame and the centre stand. And no, they are not easy to fit.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: the 2nd Spring?????

How do you do the Photo thing? My Pound land camara won't do it.

Thanks I see now, so do I plonker about taking off the large spring or leave it as a job that needs doing after I'v cut the crass and really really can't find somthing else to do? What does the small spring do I havn't got one on my other bikes. I could live on the edge with one spring, boldly placing my bike on its centre stand with a devil may care attitude. I just looked outside on the drive its still upright, I'm changing the oil, filter and adjusting the chain ready for Normandy next week.
So whats the verdict 1 or 2 springs?

Hitler has only got one S-----,
The other is in the Albert Hall.

    Re: the 2nd Spring?????

You should be able to get the smaller spring fitted with the bigger spring in situ. It will probably be a faff alright, but it should be possible.

2 springs or 1, that is the question. To be honest, I don't know.

As for the camera thing, I'm using a Panasonic Lumix TZ1, that has a macro mode and I over rode the flash to ensure that it fired. Top camera, 10x optical zoom, image stabilizer and Lord knows how many pixels. Have to keep down-sizing the images to save on space. The original image is 2048 x 1536. I scaled it to 800 x 600 to post.

Normandy next week eh? July for me and i can't wait.

Put both springs on or you will always have that doubt in the back of your mind.

Go on face the challenge, oh and have a great time on your trip.

    Re: the 2nd Spring?????

I found fitting the springs quite easy. Get two large cable ties (approx. 40 cm long), hook both between the two spring end hooks and the centre stand lug. Pull cable tie no 1 as tight as you can (use e.g. Molegrips for pulling). Then pull cable tie no 2, then no 1 again, then no 2. Little by little you have the springs stretched and can simply push the spring end hooks over the lug.
