    seized!

    I've just tried to take the rear wheel off in order to change the tyre, however the axle pin seems to be seized on, I've tried spaying on WD40 even using heat from a blow lamp to loosen it as well as forcing it out with a hammer and wooden block.

    I've already taken the chain off the rear sprocket loosened the chain tension nuts but it wont shift at all.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Ive just had exactly the same issue with my fz6. Its because the spindle is steel and the spacers are alli. The spacers oxidise on the spindle. I used my 5lb lump hammer and a brass drift to get the spindle out. A piece of wood will do the job of protecting the nut and threads but you will loose some of the shock factor. A copper headed hammer or leather headed hammer are better. Worse case...brass drift.

    Once its out clean and copper slip the adjusters and spindle.

    I do not get my Transalp till next Saturday so my suggestion may be 'mince' (a good Scottish expression).
    Do you not have to loosen the rear brake caliper retaining bolt also?.

    If useless suggestion then I will not raise my hand again until I know what I am talking about.

    Had the same on mine when I had a tyre changed a few years ago....They used heat, air wrench and finally big fkin hammer ! New nut required.

    I now pull the axle now and again to renew the coppaslip..........
