Nope - cant help....worth it though! Just spend 3 days riding the dealer loan bike without it...such pain ive never known!

Granted the Givi is much cheaper..I dont know of much difference other than finish...is it the fixings on the Honda which make the difference in price/performance?

Unless you know of a second hand one, the back of a lorry sounds about correct. Get yourself a MRA Vario screen at £99 they are great, well i think so anyway.

I've had a Honda Tall Screeen from the start of my 700 Transalp ownership, and being 5'10" in height, I find it pretty good. I think the fact that it "stands up" on the spacers to give a gap above the headlight means that there is some airflow coming up under the screen which greatly reduces turbulence and buffeting.

I also found that removing the plastic edging strip reduced turbulence a little bit, and made it quieter - it also vastly improved the looks, in my opinion.

^ Isn't the plastic edging meant to give the air a little more lift, and make the screen more effective? This is how it is described on the Honda website.

Cant say mine does anything other than collect bugs under it - not in Hondas marketing manual im sure - but it does a bloody good job at it.

I reckon thats Hondas marketing more than a feature but I can see what their thinkin.....not gonna try to find out if theres a difference though.

If you bought the cheaper one without a trim, you could always buy the trim for a few quid as its nothing special.

Re: 700 honda high screen review

I've got the MRA Vario on my 700 - cheaper than the official Honda tall screen and of course variable, so you can tweak it to suit. Looks better too , IMO. I haven't actually adjusted it much - I don't do that many long journeys, as most of my riding is shorter commuting. Interestingly, I'm a shorty at almost 5'8", and found the tallest setting gave a bit of buffeting on the motorways and one or two clicks down from the max works better for me.

It is miles better than the standard Honda 'low' screen though ( at least for me ). It does stand proud a little on its mountings , so allows a bit of an airflow up behind it which I suppose helps to smooth out the air flow a bit. I need to adjust it though to make it stand proud a bit more - I've got Barkbusters fitted, and they just touch at full lock, although not a problem in actual riding.
Transalp 700, heated grips, SW Motech crash bars, Barkbusters, centre stand, short@rse seat, Vario screen, Givi E21s, CR85 folding gear lever, Trax top box.

The beatings will continue until morale improves...
