    Unhappy Seat Height (& P.I.A. !!) 07 TA

Having collected my Pre Reg Transalp on Saturday & giving it a first good run on Sunday some questions on seating are in mind.
I have seen previous threads where people feel vertically challenged on std TA seat, but at just 5ft 6ins i find the seat on mine quite low (esp compared with my traded in XT660).

Did later models get a lower seat ? I wonder as the padding seems pretty minimal/ low height for the rider & i too am finding the seat the proverbial pain in the A## !! Quite a dissapontment actually on a bike one would think is designed specifically for mile munching !!.

My problem in the rear end dept is exacerbated by a troublesome Coccyx - i wonder if anyone with similair prob has tried making a pad with "cut out" at the rear to relieve pain on the coccyx (like the pads freely available which i use in my car)

I did sit on an Airhawk at the weekend and the few mins i was able to test it it sure did feel a pleasure !! Obviously no cut out in the back but maybe the "spread of pressure" will do a silmilair job to my cut out pad in the car.

Any thoughts on this particulay problem appreciated !

I think you've got a lowered seat on it. I'm 5'9" and the seat on my 700 feels quite high to me but very comfy on long journeys.
Can't see Honda changing the seat height just like that.

Ah - i guess i should have stated that mine is 650 not new 700 !

But then yr mention of comfort on a new 700 makes me wonder if i purchased wisely

It sounds like you have a lowered seat on it, with a standard seat I struggle to get both feet on the floor and I am 5 ft 8, I have a lowered seat which is harder than the standard and sounds like what you have. I found the standard seat very comfortable but didn't give me the confidence to ride as I like 2 feet on the floor when I stop which is why I opted for the lowered seat

    Smile Re: Seat Height (& P.I.A. !!) 07 TA - & TOP MARKS !!

WELL what a REALLY USEFUL & HELPFUL forum this is proving to be !!
I looked at David Silver website & sure enough the low seat featured looked suspiciously like mine. Took it off lunchtime & Hey Presto ! There is the word "LOW" branded in the foam / visible thru window in the seat base.

Contacted dealer & they are ordering a new seat without any fuss - also said i cld keep the low seat as well so my Female friend from Italy will appreciate that when she comes over & wants to try TA out !!

Cant complain atall about customer service from my Dealer !!

BIG THANKS for all the input !

Sounds like your dealer is very helpful. You'll notice a difference with the standard seat.

Am hoping it will make the TA the Pleasure I had imagined !!

Altough my sales contact seemed suprised i started thinking "surely it must have been ordered from Honda like that" ? Or maybe factory had bad day ! Either way i can forgive them for the small prob as apparently they have ordered a std seat for me

Maybe you have long legs and a short body

Although sounds like a lowerd seat to me, or somebodys had some of the padding taken out to make it even lower, hence the reduction in comfort
