    TA Headlamp bulb

How do you get the bugger out? I've dropped the cowl down under the fairing and can get the 3 pin plug off, but I am a tad leery of pulling what appears to be a rubber boot holding the bulb in or covering the clip that holds the bulb in as all seems firm and solid. I have been a little premature in the past with wrenching stuff in difficult to reach places! Surely I don't have to take the dashboard off?

And yes I did mean wrenching and not wenching.... The latter is a quaint custom found in South Shropshire and N. Herefordshire and is (I am told) the sort of thing that happened when I was a young...er man

    Re: TA Headlamp bulb

I had the same problem with mine when I decided to fit a brighter bulb, after a bit of tugging I decided that the best option was to say sod it and stick the new bulb on the shelf in the garage.

A month or so after that I had the fairing off (for reasons I can't remember at present) and stick the new bulb in then.

    Re: TA Headlamp bulb

I am sorry to tell you this....... when I went to change my bulb for a new brighter one, I had a hell of a time trying to do. I eventually pushed the bulb into the head lamp space and shoved in the new one.

There was little other choice. I was in the Alps and I needed a brighter bulb for some heavy duty riding in dimlight places.

I was seething mad. More so when I got back home to Paris and took the bik to the dealer. He said it was a common problem and that many Alpers failed at getting the bulb out without having to take off the fairing.

What did he recommend? Just that. Taking off the fairing. And that, my friend, was just the beginning of my Odyssey.

At least you know now. Don't fight it........... the fairing has to come off. Live with it and smile again!!!!!

    Re: TA Headlamp bulb

The rubber boot is tight (as it's a weatherproof seal), access is possible from underneath, move the black plastic shield from the bottom yoke (2 x M6 bolts), pull off the 3-pin connector from the bulb and remove rubber boot.

Don't forget that the bulb is sercured by a spring clip (as sort of clip as with most cars).

It's a lot easier putting the rubber boot back on with a smear of red rubber grease (or any other colour they do).

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
