Hi Transalpers!

I just bought a '97 Tranny 600 to use on wet days so that my Gixxer 1000 stays clean and I am having great fun with it.

It is an ex-UK cop bike - it has a calibration sticker on the tacho and the right-hand swithgear has four extra light switches (must get some neons and LEDs...)

Its on an old set of Trailwings which I am trying to burn off it as soon as possible - not sure what to replace with. I just changed the oil and tightened everything up and am looking forward to a nice long spin.

Are the headlights as bad as they seem - whats the best upgrade? Don't say 'buy an Africa Twin...'

I would say get a brighter bulb, a decent one say philips or similar, either go 100w rally bulb or a 80% brighter bulb etc, then maybe mount some spots to the crash bars?

Yeah, Crossans have them for fairly cheap but I also like the look of the Bridgestone Battlewings. I don't plan going off-road (though I sank it to its axles in mud earlier but that was in my back garden)

Not biased about the tyre question, but I've just put Michelin Anakees on my 2004 Transalp - very pleased with them.

Seriosuly though, welcome to the forum .

RE the headlight question, as its a second bike I doubt you want to spend alot on it (ruling out HID), so get an uprated bulb (50% brighter or some such), should make an appreciable difference, and I've seen some for very little money.
