    XL600VH valve clearances

just acquired a 1987 XL600VH (ie first model) and thought I'd give it the complete going over before putting it on the road.
As I'm doing the valve clearances, notice from the Haynes manual that the original VH model has much smaller clearances (0.1mm) for both inlet and exhaust that all the other 600 and 650 models (range 0.13-0.22mm). Any thoughts ?
Also, as this is a low km import, whats the best option of sorting the clocks into mph ?

Yes, the clearances are right. On the 1989 K model the valvetrain was modified (slightly less juice but more durable) leading to different clearances.
I seem to recall that Motrax used to make an MPH converter for grey imports but I am not so sure.
