    Motech bars on 700 Alp

OK so the bars have arrived and I was forewarned that the instructions weren't the best but strewth !

It looks like I need to take the sump guard off before I start - is that right ?a,ny help would be great I've got a mate whose a mechanical engineer but it would bo sooooo embarrasing to ask him for help.

you guys are much more sympathetic - I hope

In the words of the great book itself .............. don't panic!
I know it all looks a bit complicated at first
I found it helpful to lay all the bits out next to the parts diagram and determine exactly what was what. Then a good while was spent looking at the assembly diagram and working out what went where. Then it was steady away, bit by bit.
If you get stuck I can take pics of what went where on mine.

oh and yes, you do have to take the sump guard off (it's only three bolts as I recall) to get the front mounting brackets on ............... but remember to put it back on before you bolt on the bars themselves .................... like someone I know didn't ............ doh!

Re: Motech bars on 700 Alp

I'm soooo glad someone else is having the same problem, my instructions are like a photocopy on a printer thats run out of toner the only bit's I can see are in german...and guess what one of the many languages I can't speak is???

all week I've talked myself out of trying to fit them with the promise that I'll do them tomorrrow.

Theres a photo of part of the bike thats completely black so I hope thats not too important.

Wish me luck for tomorrow, I'm going to get the tools out and have a go (honest!!)

I've had a dig about in the garage & found the fitting griff so if you're stuck I'll see about scanning 'em & stick a link on here.
Biggest problem with that is ................ I can't remember where I put the bloody scanner

$@!#..&$$!@.. Half way through, but how are you supposed to get to tighten the first long bolt you put through? 15mm I think, but they didn't design these bars to waste space.

Right thats me moan over with. "Woman, bring my tools"
