So far, I seem to average about 51-53 mpg on my commuting ride, and on longer rides, the bike's managed to give me about 60 mpg (brisk A and B road riding, but not flogging it).

With topbox ,centerstand and crashbars as extra weight i can go for 280km before going in reserve ,on Highways (speed 120-130km) up to 330km before the fuelladder begins to jump up and down. Even then it's hard to get more than 12 liters in (means there still should be over 5 liters left) i think 400km is possible but sharp.

My 650 is doing an average of 45.94 Miles Per Gallon, all types of riding over 3500 miles.

    Re: Transalp MPG

At the risk of sounding very sad, I've been keeping tabs on my XL700V consumption since I bought it back in March.

So far (coming up to 2000 miles total) the worst tank was 43mpg (loads of short trips around town) and the best 61mpg. Typically I seem to be averaging 50-55mpg.

The 61mpg included a 150 mile trip from Herts to mid-Wales with paniers & top box: plenty of steady 60-70mph on good A & B roads, some 80mph dual carriageway, but with a fair bit of stop start & hard accelaration in towns and overtaking along the way.

Based on the above, tank range will be between 162 miles and 228 miles, depending on how you ride. Like others have mentioned, when I fill-up I only get around 12-13 litres in, even though the gauge is flashing, which means there is still 3+ litres to go.

I always reset Trip B at each fill-up so I can keep tabs on how far I've gone. I just need to get a feel for the distance covered when the gauge starts flashing v. the consumption.

Figured that it was better to be a bit anal until I know the bike well than run out of fuel and have to push it, or risk stuffing an injector!

    Re: Transalp MPG

I have done 1700km (1100m) so far. Worst mpg so far has been 53mpg and the best 61mpg. Hopefully, I have converted km/L to mpg correctly. When the guage starts flashing I only get 12 to 13 litres in. Riding has been mixed: mostly commuting, A roads and the occasional thrash along the motorway (140 km/h). All done with topbox, engine bars, centrestand and overweight rider.

    Re: Transalp MPG

Looking at this thread with interest, and today I decided to do the sums. ..

I did 170miles today... and noted the petrol level exactly when filling

Works out at 51.3 miles per gallon.. 650V6 2007 (7500 on clock)

    120miles of steady driving (50-60mph)..
    50 miles flogging it 70-80mph

I am not bothered to much about it, sure would be better if it was all steady smooth driving..

Great drive today, but very cold..

    Re: Transalp MPG

I`m sure the TA would get great mileage IF ran at a reasonable speed overa long distance... my last bike was a Yam xt660X single cylinder...usual mpg was around the 45/50 mark on mixed riding but usualy going fur it most o the time... then I rode fae Glasgow to Fort willy..at 55 60 all the way, althought its only 140 miles or so...I returned 75mpg...so a think the TA would get around 65/70 riding it easy... but 45/50 sounds good to me with mixed riding...
