The information you get from the 'net won't necessarily apply to your bike - why don't you measure your own MPG and then you'll know accurately what to expect.

Fill the tank to the neck (or a point inside the tank that you can see clearly) Drive for a few days using your normal driving style - ideally more than 100 miles.

Fill the bike to whatever level you used and note the exact amount of fuel it takes.

Convert the litres to gallons by dividing the number of litres by 4.54 and when you know how many gallons you divide the mileage by that to get miles-per-gallon. Simple...

My 600 does 45mpg, but I cane it everywhere.

One Gallon is actually one litre Multiplied by 4.54.
The 700 has a 17litre tank, run for a few tankfuls and check the milage between fill ups.
Check the Miles Per Litre then multiply that by 17.
Your worst and your best figures will be the distances you can get on a tank of fuel.
My 650 worst 171 miles per tank and best 239 miles per tank,Average 195 per tank.

My mpg on my 700 comes at around 53 mpg - based on 2 tankfuls so far. But as the saying goes... Your mileage may vary...

I'm about the same as Mandobear but It's not an exact science.
It's in your hands ,your right hand to be specific .

At the weekend I had a run to Glasgow, and would normally top up before run home but kept going, needle below the read and reading 175 miles, most motorway 75/80ish with about 10 in city. I make that about 51/52 mpg. '05 650 with topbox

    Re: Transalp MPG

Oh and if you do decide to strap a 5 litre petrol can to the back and run the tank dry in an effort to find out exactly what your tank range is:

make sure you know that there will be a garage within 5 litres of where you run out of petrol

Don't ask me why I'm telling you this coz I'll only lie to you
