    Tyre Pressure Please

Intend travelling to Scotland / Cumbria for last week of August. Two up, fully loaded with luggage, hair dryer, sink, shower etc.... (herself is joining me )I think she's secretely testing the loading capabilities for Honda Motorcycles . Bike is a 01 with Distanzias fitted.
Can anyone tell me the recommended pressures please ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Tyre Pressure Please

Just done a two up tour round the Northwest/Lake District.

    Front - 29 psi

    Back - 32 psi

Tyres are Michelin Anakees, and very nearly new. No problems to report.

By the way, these pressures are what the owners handbook says. You might want to check the Avon site to see if they say anything different.

Just done it and Avon say this -

    http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcyc...=650&year=2004

    So -

29 psi front and 33 psi rear.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I've got a feeling that those pressures are rider only. My 700 has a pillion/loaded rear pressure of 41psi, so I'd be surprised if the 650 didn't have a higher value when loaded.

That said my VFR was the same [42psi] loaded or not.......

    Well, the book says -

Front - 29 psi, rider or rider and passenger

Rear - 29 psi, rider only or 32 psi with rider and passenger.

The TA is not very twitchy about pressures. (650)

It will happily run M/way speeds at sort of 8-12 psi!! (But not mud at ish 30 psi.)

Did you adjust the shock absorber ?

No, I didn't. I have always thought that my TA was a bit harsh, suspension wise, when riding it solo. The roads around here aren't great and, on occasion, I've been bumped off the seat.

However, I have come to the conclusion that the previous owner must have adjusted the suspension as the bike behaves in a much more civilised manner when two-up, ie with more weight onboard.

Which then leads me to think that I need a new shock with a remote preload adjuster.

Oh, it's simple alright - you just hand over the money and the nice man gives you a new rear shock with remote preload adjustment. Just need to gather the readies together now..........

The spanner work should not be too much bother, I believe.
