    TA speedo failure

The speedo on my TA has failed after only 5,300 (approx) miles. I've replaced the cable and the front wheel still appears to be turning the drive- I revolved it lots and watch the connector make a quarter turn- so I guess the problem must lie in the clock. A new clock, then- or does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks all-
    Rod

Are you absolutely certain it is the Speedo and not the plastic worm drive on the wheel. It may turn when you operate it by hand but what about 15,000 rpm.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Dunno the exact ratio of wheel revs to speedo cable revs but it it MUCH greater than above.

Your nylon gear is buggered and is engaging with something (probably broken gear teeth) to just barely turn.

Check the "Stickies" above.....some rather brilliant yank posted a pictorial on how to repair these. You don't have to follow all the steps, just make certain you clean out all the old debris (compessed air helps here) and replace and relube the nylon drive gear.

Checking and lubing your cable helps as well.

    Hi,

I've just replaced mine. It's the nylon spool in the hub. The right hand dust seal appears to let water in and rusts the shaft so jamming the spool.

They are £15 for the new one (honda part no. 44806-MV1-003)
It has two washers beneath it (honda part no. 44809-ML7-003)
