Well I went and did it! I’ve got me a lovely silver 650 alp with only 800 miles on the clock (now 1000, 200 by me!!) First impressions are very positive
- Love the high up riding position especially the leg room (I’m 6ft 2in)
- More than adequate power for me with a nice “easy going” feel
- Handling’s fine with a nice “balanced feel”
The only down sides are:
- The stock Bridgestones remind me of some “Pnemant tyres” I had on an MZ in my dim and distant (not to mention skint) past
- The standard screen isn’t the best in the world (I think I might be getting an MRA soon..)
And that’s it!!
Overall it comes across as a solid bike that should be good for a bit of touring, commuting and whatever comes to mind. Like most people I tend to read every review about a bike before I get it and I’m glad I didn’t take any notice about what the magazines said about the bike, they’d have you believe that you’d struggle past an artic on the motorway so how come I spent a good 30mins trundling along at 80mph quite comfortably (apart from my head doing an impression of a ball in the national lottery machine due to the standard screen)???
