    Headlight Beam Adjustment

    Hi All,

Riding my first ever TA (s/h 2004, so no owners manual), two-up through darkest night time black-as-your-hat parts of the IoM recently, I thought the headlight beam rather high, could do with a bit of downward adjustment ... in next days daylight, couldn't see an obvious way of adjusting the beam.

Last night, riding my second ever TA (s/h 2001, so again, no owners manual), two-up through darkest night time black-as-your-hat parts of Malta, again thought the headlight beam could do with a bit of downward adjustment ... today I've looked, still can't see an obvious way of adjusting the TA beam.

So, Knowledge One's, what's the story with the beam adjustment - or shall I continue to dazzle on-coming road users?

    Yours, enquiring considerately,

If you remove the instrument cowl you will see an adjustor nut for the up down adjustment, on the nearside.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Thank You, StumpyFingers,
In the morning I shall cautiously remove the instrument cowl, then peer inquisitively within, and then ...

On the 650 TA, there's a small plastic adjuster wheel on the LHS of the headlight, at the rear of it. you should be able to get at it going up under the fairing betewwn the front forks.

I don't have much problem reaching this nut going down past the bars,
usually takes seconds to adjust, and it is needed as anything like a serious
weight change at the rear the headlight requires an adjustment ------ chris

    Beam Adjustment Accomplished

    Headlight Beam Adjustment Accomplished.
So obvious and easy and convieniently quick ... a doddle, once one knows how.
Thank you all for passing on The Knowledge.
Hence this evening I rode solo with the beams illuminating exactly the areas of road ahead that need illumination.
Pot-holes and other hazards of this country were thrown into sharp relief in plenty of time for evaluation of the need for any evasive action.
Followed and On-coming Maltese drivers remained happily un-dazzled.
Regards & Best Wishes from myself and (if only they knew it) the other nocturnal road users of this island too.
