When travelling in Eastern Europe I travelled the whole length of Slovakia in 1 & 1/2 hrs. Don't think I dropped much below 7000 rpm the whole time - 110mph flat out on the clock but sat at 100 mph the whole way

    Solid engine

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

Find the right road and an Alp is as fast as anything. My mate on the new Tenere and I on my 650 passed a whole bunch of Brit sportsbike riders descending the Cormet de Roselend in the rain this year. None of them seemed to have a clue; one even had his inside foot out approaching a hairpin bend.

hammering down through France on the toll roads with the big trail bike club to do the stella.. 1994 600TA with TCKs got a weave at 105 following the big boys so cooled it to 95... hour after hour the TA is not slow
and it handles with the TCKs too great on the cols and the hair pins

I think the TA is fast enough for most sensible journeys, If well maintained then it will do triple figure speeds for longer than I can.
I usually get bored if sitting for too long at high speeds, and get bored if sitting for too long at slow speeds.
The TA takes it all in its stride.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Speed isn't everything, the power rangers may be able to go faster but they need longer (and more often) rest times to recover its the hare and tortoise thing

Doesn't stop me cruising sat upright at 110 and I'm sure it's just as comfortable on the TA

I shot this on-board footage during the Christmas holidays back in 2006. I mean .. just how much more 'road fun' do you want on a motorcycle? ..

During the same holiday period I found myself riding through muck & mud tracks, and along pebbles of drying-out river beds (see below).

AND it's a Honda ... nothing out there more robust and reliable..

I was there too! Great road, one of many. We did it in a Ducato camper but they were all brilliant.

Personally, I reckon the 600 was a better machine in many ways than the later 650's for both long haul and also for a blast in the dirt. Lighter and lower and for me, more comfortable.

Ha!! buy that man a pint :-

Not ridden a 650, but have to agree that the 600 is more in line with the intend that spawned the AT, given that the 650 & 700 fit the modern TA role, shame there is no 850-1000 AT but thats a long running argument

Haven't used my TA much this year, as I have been smitten by the RD01 I have been playing with, but took it for a blast and down some forest tracks after it flew through its MOT, so have taxed it and will use it for winter fun, while 'precious' is cabined up for winter..

I was comparing the engines on the TA and the RD01 and noticed that the cosmetic cooling fins on the TA cylinders & heads are the same configuration and size as those on the air cooled RD01.. no wonder these bloody things dont over-heat and run cool

Got a pic somewhere of them side by side .. will dig it out when I am home..
